  • About

The PE programme at Westminster is for all Fifth Form (Year 9) pupils. It a great way for pupils to learn the importance of health and fitness, while also introducing them to sports that are not covered by the regular Station (sport) options available to them on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Pupils will develop both individual and teamwork skills by playing and taking part in a variety of different sports and activities, in the Sports Centre and on Vincent Square.

  • Curriculum

A double PE lesson every fortnight gives Fifth Form pupils the opportunity to achieve a physical balance with their regular Station choices. Fifth Formers who would usually, for example, run cross country or swim during Station afternoons instead get the chance to engage in team games of volleyball or handball. In addition, team sport players are able to try physiological testing and to develop individual training plans.

  • Enrichment

Fifth Form pupils also take part in a Lower School Expedition (LSE) of their choosing at the end of the Election (Summer) Term, which can involve outdoor sports pursuits. LSEs have previously, for example, offered pupils with an interest in PE the chance to go surfing in Cornwall or horse riding in Wales.
