The Counselling Service at Westminster Under School is an important pillar of support of pupil welfare, through the provision of both counselling and psychotherapeutic services. The School is looking to appoint a School Counsellor, to help members of staff support the wellbeing of pupils. They will work with young people with a range of emotional and behavioural difficulties, providing supportive counselling as well as undertaking more complex assessment and treatment of mental health difficulties. Further to this, they will forge strong links with the Learning Development Department so as to ensure that those pupils who have access arrangements and neurodiverse profiles are able to be supported as effectively as possible.

The successful candidate must be a qualified child and adolescent counsellor, or psychotherapist registered with an appropriate professional body. They will have experience of providing formal assessment, treatment and management of young people with a range of mental health difficulties, and they will understand multiple theoretical backgrounds and employ methods based upon evidence of efficacy.
