Yacine (Deputy Secretary-General)
More about Yacine (Deputy Secretary-General)
Yacine is in Year 12 and Deputy Secretary-General of MUN at Westminster. Having first started MUN in Year 9, he has since taken part in numerous conferences in London, and even abroad. In those 4 years of MUN, after regularly being saddled with nations such as Iran and Russia, he has gained a new, deeper (and perhaps a tad overly sympathetic) understanding of the trials and tribulations which come along with being an autocratic and oppressive regime in the UN which regularly abuses human rights. Thankfully, US hypocrisy and proclamations of ‘Western Neo-Colonialism have often come to the rescue when all other forms of deflection and straw-manning have failed. Whilst he has never witnessed an MUN conference manage to avoid the temptation of declaring thermo-nuclear war against some small and unsuspecting nation – most memorably the Vatican City – he remains optimistic that MUN is a great forum for encouraging teamwork, compromise, and creativity (particularly in coming up with hilarious acronyms for new and unnecessary UN committees). He believes that MUN is the perfect balance between being fun and a serious opportunity to learn, and hopes that all delegates at this year’s WESMUN will take full advantage of both aspects. Learn, and laugh! (Alliteration – GCSE speech writing skills right there 💪)
