Lawn Bowls

Lawn bowls station was established in Summer Term 2014 and has been a regular fixture ever since. Taking the tube from Westminster to Putney with some of the rowers, lawn bowlers disembark the train and walk west along the Thames, winding up at Winnington Bowls club, a club that has been established for over 100 years.

Donning special lawn bowls shirts, pupils learn the rules and regs of lawn bowls and are taught by team members all of whom represent Middlesex. They learn to play single, doubles and other team match-ups on wonderfully cut grass and under bright blue skies. Refreshments are on tap and at the end of each session, the Master-in-Charge ensures that everyone has an ice-cream!
